Jay McCallum rolls out industry, law enforcement endorsements for Supreme Court race
Second Circuit Court of Appeal Judge Jay McCallum rolled out endorsements from industry and law enforcement in his bid for a seat on the Louisiana Supreme Court.
McCallum, R-Farmerville, is in a heads-up race with 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal Judge Shannon Gremillion, R-Alexandria, for the vacant 4th District Supreme Court seat.
Two of the state’s most prominent big business advocates — the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry and the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association — have thrown in with McCallum, as well as a number of law enforcement officials.
Gremillion and McCallum are running in a special election to complete the unexpired term of former Justice Marcus Clark, R-Monroe, who retired for health reasons. Clark took medical leave from the court last year.
