Jay McCallum is currently on the Second Circuit Court of Appeal. Before that, Judge McCallum served as a judge of the Third Judicial District (Lincoln and Union Parishes) .
Prior to being elected judge, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Third Judicial District, and as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives (1992-2002).
Judge McCallum is a much sought after CLE, motivational and inspirational speaker and law enforcement instructor, who is best known for using humor to instruct, inspire and motivate his audience.
The recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for public service, Judge Jay, as he is known to many of his constituents, is most proud of being a husband and father to his beloved family.
Judge McCallum and his wife Deanna Dunham McCallum, a Franklin Parish native, have two children. Their daughter Sarah Katherine, a sophomore at LSU, was Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen 2016. Their son John, a Harvard graduate, and his wife Brooke, live in Seattle, Washington. On September 6, 2020, they had their first child, a son, Cato Theodore McCallum, making Deanna and Jay very happy grandparents.
